Poona Bay
on Queensland's Cooloola Coast

Poona is a quite village situated between Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay to the south and Maryborough, Hervey Bay to the north. Access is via the Cooloola Coast Rd (all bitumen).

Enjoy a peaceful holiday at Poona just two and a half hours drive north of Brisbane. Poona is situated on the protected waters of Great Sandy Strait inside Fraser Island. The area has much to offer the holiday maker with some of the best fishing and crabbing in south east Queensland.

The Great Sandy Strait and its coastline is much as it has always been; unspoilt natural country and appropriate for the world recognition status. There is an abundance of bird life and the Strait is a marine haven for dolphins, turtles and dugong.

Poona is also an excellent base for day trips to visit Maryborough; whale watching at Hervey Bay; the coloured sands at Rainbow Beach; the dolphins at Tin Can Bay; and all that the world heritage listed Fraser Island has to offer.

Overlooking Fraser Island, the area offers a peaceful and relaxing holiday with great opportunities to catch fish, be it in a boat or fishing from the beach.
